Our team has extensive experience advising states, international organizations and NGOs on a broad range of legal issues such as the law of the sea, land delimitation, the law of privileges and immunities of States and international organizations, various aspects of State and IO responsibility, international administrative law, the law of treaties and the design of international courts and tribunals.
Our experience includes:
- Negotiating over 15 bilateral investment treaties
- Being part of Canada’s team negotiating the investment chapter of the Canada-Europe Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement
- Advising NGOs on the implementation of international human rights law by international criminal tribunals for Sierra Leone and Cambodia
- Advising international oil companies regarding maritime delimitation and unitization agreements under the law of the sea
- Advising States on international trade law obligations, notably regarding trade in services obligations under the GATS and free trade agreements
- Providing advice in the context of an investment treaty arbitration case involving issues arising under several international treaties, including the 1920 Svalbard Treaty, the NEAFC Convention, UNCLOS, the WTO Agreements and the Agreement on the European Economic Area
